Why do so many of us have a desire to be upside down? Are you on your feet all day and fancy a change? Did you wake up in a cold sweat one evening with an epiphany? Maybe it’s time for a new party trick to dazzle your friends? Or (preferably) a simple curiosity about this fun and often unnecessarily scary aspect of our asana practice.
This creative and practical workshop will deepen our understanding of techniques and alignment to get us in the air. We will deconstruct each pose into its basic elements so we can better understand anatomically what muscles need to activate and strengthen to support us, before reconstructing the pose fully energised like a yoga cyborg from the future built for life upside down.
We’ll work from our foundations up, expect easy entry level balances suitable for complete beginners, with guidance and support in each step of the way, as well as plenty of time to explore the more challenging variations and their preparations for the more curious practitioner.
Questions and discussion are encouraged throughout the class, we’ll break as often as needed to make sure you feel completely safe and comfortable in your practice, as well as a few fun experiments along the way that will hopefully give us a better understanding of ourselves.
